Mané Fernandes is a guitar player, composer and improviser based in Porto and Copenhagen.

He is part of a broad, musical experimental scene he likes to call Post-Beat Aesthetics.

The meeting of the “Jazz” (#BAM) tradition as an ever-inspiring source of depth and truth, with the fresh timbres and methodologies of electronic and sample based music(s) is where he finds his space.
Mané has worked with some of the leading figures in Jazz and Improvised music.

More recently he featured as part of João Barradas’ “Home”, Pedro Melo Alves’ 24 piece “Omniae Large Ensemble”, Orquestra Galego-Portuguesa de Liberación, "Quang Ny Lys" with João Mortágua and Rita Maria, as well as featuring soloist and arranger for Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos.

He has studied with Jason Moran, Petter Eldh, Kresten Osgood completed a master in Music Performance at Rytmisk MusikKonservatorium (Copenhagen) after his degree in Jazz Performance at ESMAE (Porto).
As a leader, he has released two albums: “BounceLab” (Porta-Jazz 2014) and “Root Fruit” (Digital Self-released 2016) which have been critically acclaimed for their energy and elegance.

His next album "ENTER THE sQUIGG" is to be released by Clean Feed Records in Spring 2022.

The project, born in Copenhagen in a 70's “Hippie Kollectiv” house (the Krok Kolektiv) with Luca Curcio (double bass) Simon Olderskog Albertsen (drums), has developed an original rhythmic and conceptual language based on Mané Fernandes’ compositions, exploring the universe of micro-rhythms, live recording followed by studio produced ideas, centered in the sound of the drums. This  was greatly influenced by Malcolm Braff and his “General Theory of Rhythm”.

Think polyrhythms, odd subdivisions and metric modulations meets hip-hop and electronics meets soulful improvisations in an abandoned basketball playground.
Come hang out and Enter The sQUIGG !
